Job summary

We are looking for a Operating Department Practitioners to come and work in Blyth Theatres. If you are interested in a new challenge or change then this might be the role for you.

Blyth theatres specialises in obstetrics and gynaecological surgery. We have 3 theatres 2 are for elective surgery and 1 for emergency surgery.

You provide clinically effective, high quality, individualised peri-operative patient care working within the multi-disciplinary team.

We are a 24 hour department and the candidate will be expected to cover out of hours shifts.

The successful candidate will:

  • To work as part of a team to ensure the highest standards are maintained at all times
  • Collaborate with a wide range of people and professional groups to improve the services we provide
  • To support the patient through their journey within the theatres department.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Has experience of working within a team.
  • Evidence of Exposure to or understanding Relevant Clinical Experience
  • Significant recent relevant hospital experience

Desirable

  • Previous relevant perioperative experience
  • Scrub
  • Anesthetics

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered ODP
  • To undertake Anaesthetic practice be able to evidence achievement of recognised national standards
  • Evidence of continued professional Development Plans

Desirable

  • Dip HE (or working towards)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understands the clinical role of a Nurse/ODP within the Perioperative team.

Desirable

  • Has evidence of professional portfolio development
  • Previous experience of working within an emergency department
