Job Summary
Experienced Occupational Therapists are required for the Occupational Therapy Team at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr within the acute and trauma service.
The role delivers assessments and interventions for patients in hospital and in their homes, supports a range of conditions and complexities, and focuses on rapid discharge planning using the discharge‑to‑assess model.
Responsibilities
- Conduct occupationally focused assessments and interventions in hospital and home settings.
- Assess, design and provide moving and handling equipment.
- Deliver inpatient rehabilitation with an emphasis on rapid discharge planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service development.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to junior staff and students.
- Travel between sites and patients' residences as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Qualification as an Occupational Therapist.
- HCPC registration.
- Clinical educator course completion.
- Appropriate clinical experience.
Desirable
- Membership of RCOT.
- Post‑graduate experience in a rehabilitation setting.
- Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities
- Knowledge of occupational therapy role and practice.
- Experience managing complex clinical situations.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Aware of clinical governance and NHS policies.
- Capability to supervise others and develop leadership skills.
- Welsh language skills desired (Level 1 or willingness to learn).
