Salaried GP Maternity Leave Cover 6m+ Fareham

Salaried GP required to cover Maternity Leave for a minimum of 6 months with possible extension. To work alongside our team of 6 partners, Salaried and Retainer GPs and Nurse/Admin colleagues.

Main duties of the job:

• The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
• In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
• The post-holder will adapt to any changes in the way the appointment system is run, when any changes are required by the Partners.
• Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
• Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Qualifications:

• Essential: GMC registration with a licence to practise. Qualified Medical Practitioner holding MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical degree. Completion of GP Specialty Training and inclusion on the GMC GP Register. Evidence of continued professional development (CPD). Eligibility to work in the UK. Current indemnity cover or willingness to obtain appropriate cover prior to commencement.
• Desirable: Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). Additional qualifications in areas such as women's health, dermatology, minor surgery, diabetes, palliative care, or medical education. Training in mentorship, supervision, or teaching.

Experience:

• Essential: Experience working as a GP in a primary care setting. Ability to manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Experience of multidisciplinary team working. Experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. Competence in clinical decision-making and risk management. Experience using clinical systems and electronic patient records. Excellent communication skills with patients, carers, and colleagues. Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Desirable: Experience working within NHS General Practice. Experience of QOF, Enhanced Services, and population health management. Experience supervising GP trainees, foundation doctors, or medical students. Experience in leadership, service development, or quality improvement initiatives. Experience in minor surgery, joint injections, contraceptive services, or other specialist clinics. Experience of digital consultations and remote patient management.
