Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Digital Informatics Lead Midwife to join our maternity leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to lead the digital agenda within maternity services, shaping how technology and data drive safer, more personalised care for women and families.

You will be a highly motivated registered midwife with substantial clinical experience and a strong interest in digital healthcare.

You will demonstrate:

• Proven leadership and change management skills
• Experience working with maternity information systems or digital healthcare technologies
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply data
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• A passion for innovation and improving maternity services through technology

Main duties of the job

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for digital and informatics within maternity services
• Act as the clinical lead for maternity information systems and electronic patient records
• Drive improvements in data quality, ensuring compliance with national reporting requirements
• Analyse and interpret data to inform clinical decision-making and service improvement
• Lead and support digital transformation initiatives and system implementations
• Ensure digital systems support safe clinical practice and effective workflows
• Promote digital literacy and provide training and support to staff
• Lead on information governance, data protection, and clinical safety related to digital systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and represent maternity services at internal and external forums

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

• Registered Midwife with Nursing & Midwifery Council Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a health-related subject
• Evidence of a training qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

• Registered with a relevant informatics professional body

• Maternity management experience, including resource management Expertise and experience in applying NHS Wales Health & Care standards into practice
• Experience in undertaking maternity audits, including maternity documentation
• Expertise in delivering training. Effective leadership skills, coaching and mentoring experience.
• Significant clinical experience Demonstrate knowledge of project management and experience.
• Experience and understanding of change management process Knowledge of health service management, including change management and workforce redesign High level of political awareness, capable of understanding the wider objectives of the organisation and its context within current Assembly policy and strategic direction.
