Dietitian Cambridge Bio Medical Campus

Do you have an interest in nutritional support and looking for a Band 5 position at a leading adult cardiothoracic hospital? We have a vacancy for a Band 5 dietitian to join our experienced and friendly team of dietitians and dietetic support staff. This rotational role offers the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of nutrition support including short and long term enteral feeding, supporting patients pre and post-surgery and those with long-term respiratory support needs.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake comprehensive dietetic assessments of cardiothoracic patients who have a variety of clinical presentations and be responsible for daily prioritising of your caseload. This could also include attending multidisciplinary group meetings on behalf of the department or patient related as required. You will provide support to other specialist areas in the absence of colleagues after appropriate training. This could include transplant, respiratory support and sleep centre and cystic fibrosis. We provide dietetic student placements for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and you will be involved in the student training programme. As part of your role, you will contribute to audits and service development with opportunity to build your CPD portfolio. We have access to a range of CPD opportunities both internally and external nutrition related conferences such as BAPEN. In addition, you will be expected to keep up to date on dietetic knowledge by reviewing relevant journal articles, contributing to department journal club and attending relevant study days.

Qualifications

• Essential: HCPC recognised BSc/ MSc Degree in Dietetics, HCPC registered
• Desirable: Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)

Experience

• Essential: Previous experience of nutrition support in NHS clinical practice placements.
• Experience of co-ordinating and delivering group education sessions.
• Experience of working face to face with patients and public.
• Good communication skills, ability to liaise with professionals at all levels and discuss complex patient cases.
• Organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload.
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
• Self-motivated and willingness to learn.

• Desirable: Previous experience of outpatient clinics / surgical pathways and working in an acute setting.
• Experience of producing a simple Dietetic resource such as a diet sheet / poster.
• Presentation skills to groups.
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of clinical audit and how its principles may be applied in practice.
