Deputy Superintendent Radiographer - ED London

Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, senior radiographer who wishes to work at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital so that they are surrounded by people who put patients first but are also keen to invest in themselves and the organisation.

The Trust has a commitment to develop its staff. For the ED Imaging Deputy Superintendent, this means rotating through:

• ED Xray
• ED CT
• General Xray
• Interventional Radiology
• Main CT

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Xray and CT Superintendents in providing the operational management and coordination of the ED Imaging service at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.

The post holder will partake in effective management and deployment of staff and will assist with all aspects of the day to day management of the ED and main Imaging Department.

The post holder will be responsible for the assisting the superintendents with coordination of the Quality Standards for Imaging accreditation.

Main duties of the job

Operationally they will be responsible for coordinating continual improvement of Patient Experience and Quality of Care improvement projects including paperless workflow, coordinated department wide surveys and reviewing patient pathways.

They will be responsible for the monitoring of an effective Quality Assurance database of all Imaging equipment in ED Imaging together with the Superintendents and Medical Physics team.

The post holder will also be the lead for the Trauma Audit Research Network data collection, working together effectively with the x-ray/CT superintendents and the trauma team across ED and the hospital.

The post holder will be required to actively participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines.

To undertake any other duties which may be appropriate to the post.

To offer an initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff in the course of their role.

Person Specification

Essential

• BSc (Hons) Radiography / DCR (R) or accepted international equivalent
• HCPC registration
• Putting patients first
• Broad general imaging experience at radiographer level
• Proven acumen for approaching all situations with an open mind and 'can-do' attitude
• Able to work well in a complex team
• Up-to-date technical knowledge
• Ability to make decisions
• Interest and willingness in teaching/training
• Punctual
• Ability to make decisions

Desirable

• Member of SOR
• Interest in further study and CPD including research
• Quality Improvement (QI), transformation or innovation training
• Competent in specialist techniques such as CT cardiac scans and CT interventional procedures
• Student supervision responsibilities
• IV cannulation trained and competent
• Broad general radiography experience at student / radiographer level
