An exciting opportunity has risen to join the fantastic Liaison Psychiatry Medical Team. This is a replacement Consultant post based in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board for Liaison Services and you will be joining a team in a very dynamic and forward looking Directorate, with supportive colleagues and a culture where development and progression is embedded. The existing clinical teams within Rhondda Taff Ely are well established and there is a very supportive peer group across the Health Board. The post is an ageless service. Your main base will be in Royal Glamorgan Hospital Ynysmaerdy, Pontyclun CF72 8XR.

Main duties of the job:
- Implementation of the MH Act and associated duties.
- Liaison and collaboration with colleagues from the Directorate and beyond including other organisations, Local Authorities and third sector.
- Supervision of team members as appropriate, taking full part in referral handling/team meetings.
- Taking on much of the clinical leadership of the team, working closely with other senior professionals including Mental Health Liaison Practitioners.
- The management of complex cases, providing leadership and specialist advice to colleagues across the team.
- Triaging new referrals and signposting to appropriate person to undertake initial assessment.
- Assessment, diagnosis, and formulation of management plans for patients.

Person Specification:
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Essential: Current GMC Registration, MRC Psych or equivalent, Approved Clinician Approval, Section 12 (2) Approval.
- Desirable: Additional relevant postgraduate qualification, Relevant clinical qualification, Welsh Approved Clinician Approval.
Knowledge and Experience
- Essential: Comprehensive training and experience in psychiatry, Higher training experience in psychiatry.
- Desirable: Experience of acting as a S12(2) doctor or Responsible Clinician.
Audit and Research
- Essential: Understanding of clinic risk management and clinical governance, Evidence of having undertaken audit relevant to specialty, Proven capability to initiate and undertake original work.
- Desirable: Evidence of service wide audit with significant and lasting impact on practice.
Management/Teaching
- Essential: Evidence of having delivered postgraduate teaching, Ability to supervise staff effectively, Evidence of having delivered multi-disciplinary teaching.
- Desirable: Experience of appraising staff, Evidence of service development, Evidence of teaching medical students.
