This post is a new post, to appoint a dedicated pelvic floor surgeon who is to join the current consultant in complex pelvic floor disease. There is close engagement with obstetrics, urology, GI Physiology and gynaecology surgery. The job plan has a fixed pattern over a 16-week period and will be subject to review at 12 months. In an elective week, the post holder will usually work over 4 fixed days including operating sessions, clinic, relevant MDT meetings and endoscopy. The postholder will perform pelvic floor surgery (open, laparoscopic and robotic); Delorme's procedure/Altemeiers resection and rectopexy surgery (mesh, suture). There is additional work supporting emergency surgery, benign resections and proctology procedures. The colorectal surgeons work with a consultant-led ward round model of all elective and emergency patients as timetabled each day. We have subspecialist MDTs for colorectal cancer, complex polyps, pelvic floor, specialistic mesh removal, complex endometriosis surgery and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, there is an intestinal failure support team and abdominal wall reconstruction. It is an essential criterion that the postholder can work as part of a large team and that they can demonstrate good relations with colleagues and patients.
