Diagnostic Radiographer Carlisle

Diagnostic Radiographer Band 5 - 37.5 hours available. Work as a diagnostic radiographer within the team that provides 365 days, 24 hour radiology services, providing general radiography including theatre services, emergency radiography, fluoroscopic and angiography services, with expectation to participate in on‑call rota. All applicants are required to have BSc Hons Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent and HCPC registration. Post suitable to qualified radiographers with at least one year general radiography experience.

Main duties of the job:

• Work as a diagnostic radiographer to provide a radiology service across North Cumbria comprising general radiography including theatres, dental, fluoroscopy, angiography (incl. coronary) and CT.
• Work independently to justify and perform radiographic examinations from a range of referral pathways including general and dental practitioners.
• Provide 24/7 department cover including on‑call for emergency and in‑patient examinations.
• Work as part of the Radiology team to provide mentorship for student radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and newly qualified radiographers.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• Essential: Degree in radiography or equivalent. HCPC registration.

Experience:

• Essential: Plain film, fluoroscopic and emergency radiography.
• Desirable: CT, Angiography.

Skills and Aptitudes:

• Essential: Plain film and fluoroscopic radiography, excellent communication skills, team member, manual dexterity, moving and handling the non‑independently mobile, including those with multiple injuries, ability to use initiative appropriately, ability to motivate self & others, ability to teach, mentorship skills, ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, ability to demonstrate the compassionate values and behaviours needed for dignified care.

Knowledge:

• Essential: Patient care including signs of deteriorating health and first level life support techniques, infection control, radiation protection, moving and handling techniques.
• Desirable: RIS / PACS, pathology recognition, trust policies and procedures, medicines management.

Personal Circumstances:

• Essential: Confident, meticulous, calm, empathetic, willing to accept responsibility.
• Desirable: Enthusiasm for further learning.

Other Requirements:

• Essential: Flexible approach to work, willing to work across NCIC Trust and travel to community sites as required.
• Desirable: Willing to live within 30 minutes travelling time, driving licence.
