Are you looking for an exciting and challenging opportunity? We are recruiting an RMN to undertake the role of a Staff Nurse on PICU at the Princess of Wales Hospital, providing assessment and treatment to adults with various mental health conditions, in the in‑patient setting of the Mental Health. This role will be a 12‑hour shift pattern, and enable the successful Staff Nurse to develop in a busy, friendly team where your skills and ideas are valued and your development supported.
The post holder will have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude to working with people with complex mental health needs and work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team. The post holder will manage their own caseload of patients, and act as an expert resource in the care and treatment of patients experiencing a range of mental health problems relevant to the area of practice.
Responsibilities- Using the Mental Health Measure 2012 framework to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient needs, and agreeing realistic and achievable outcomes.
- Participating in individualised Care and Treatment review meetings, ensuring regular reviews and accurate documentation in inpatient records.
- Administering, monitoring and supervising prescribed medication.
- Observing and reporting therapeutic effects and possible side effects using evidence‑based scales.
- Offering support, advice and information to carers and relatives.
- Encouraging carer participation in care planning, fostering trust and cooperation while maintaining confidentiality.
- Contributing to clinical reviews/case formulation and reporting on patient condition to other professionals, and providing written reports as requested, including for Mental Health Tribunals.
- Adhering to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board policies and procedures in all aspects of clinical practice.
- Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge within inpatient mental health settings.
- IT literacy.
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role.
- Experience as a band 5 registered Mental Health Nurse or applications from new registrants.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary and/or multi agency working.
- Experience of working with the designated client group.
- UK NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Health Measure.
- Knowledge of Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB modernisation of service plan.
