The post holder will be an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist in Paediatrics, Neonatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, providing highly specialised pharmaceutical advice and regular reports on clinical and financial drug issues. They will be responsible for providing a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the specialties and directorate. The post holder will be accountable for their own professional actions and undertake duties in accordance with National protocols, legislation, and UHB policies and procedures. There is scope within the job plan for clinical prescribing sessions within the directorate for independent pharmacists. This role is based at RGH and POW, and will work across and provide health board wide service provisions.

Main Duties of the Job:

  • The post holder is responsible for managing, leading, developing and delivering specialist neonatal, paediatric, gynaecology, integrated sexual health and maternity services with the acute site in conjunction with the Lead pharmacist for Children and Families.
  • They will be responsible for supporting the delivery of education and training for pharmacy students, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.

This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Person Specification:

Qualifications Essential:

  • Masters degree in pharmacy
  • Registered with GPhC
  • Member of RCPharm
  • Postgraduate diploma / MSc in clinical or hospital pharmacy, or equivalent experience

Desirable:

  • Post-graduate management course
  • Non-medical prescriber
  • Post-graduate qualification in specialist area
  • Member of RPS faculty or working towards membership

Experience Essential:

  • Relevant experience as a clinical pharmacist
  • Experience of training and supervising staff
  • Experience of audit, QI or research
  • Able to take autonomous practice

Desirable:

  • Member of UK specialist group
  • Experience of implementing change

Skills and Attributes Essential:

  • Communicate effectively
  • Able to present to large groups
  • Skilled negotiator and facilitator
  • Mentoring and coaching skills
  • Can manage conflict and deal with difficult situations
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above
