Role Overview

Priory Hospital Barnt Green has an opportunity for an Interim Deputy Ward Manager with an Active Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council to join our team on our PICU Ward.

About the Hospital

Priory Hospital Barnt Green is a purpose-built hospital providing mental health support for adults and young people, including specialist therapy and psychiatry, as well as private autism assessments for adults. It is accessible by public transport, with Barnt Green railway station approximately 1–2 miles from the hospital and local bus routes serving the surrounding area. Due to the semi-rural location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

About the Role

You will be part of a compassionate team that is committed to supporting people's wellbeing. As a Senior Nurse, you will play a key role in creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, their families, and visitors. You will lead by example, ensuring high standards of clinical care, effective risk management, and compliance with statutory requirements, policies, and governance frameworks.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will support the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of person-centred therapeutic interventions that empower patients to develop effective coping strategies and achieve positive outcomes. You will supervise and mentor nursing staff, contribute to their professional development, provide clinical supervision, and support junior colleagues and student nurses. In addition, you will lead shifts, act as a named nurse, undertake designated lead responsibilities within the ward, deputise for the Ward Manager when required, and contribute to the recruitment, retention, and development of a high-performing team while championing equality, diversity, inclusion, and a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Essential Criteria

  • At least 18 Months – 2 years’ experience post-registration
  • Demonstrable expertise within a clinical speciality
  • Communication Experience required in PICU environment or in forensic Setting
