About the Role

We are looking for an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist who will have an impact on all parts of our service. This position is a fixed‑term contract providing maternity leave cover in our HSL‑Advanced Diagnostics service. The HSL Cellular Pathology service is a consolidated service covering the North Central London region, with a high‑capacity core laboratory at 60 Whitfield Street (60WS) and a satellite laboratory at the Royal Free Hospital. There are also satellite specimen receptions at Barnet & Chase Farm (B&C F), North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) and the Whittington Hospital (WH). Our new, purpose‑designed laboratory opened in January 2020, with entirely new equipment, and houses one of the largest Cellular Pathology services in Europe, providing Histology, Diagnostic Cytology and HSL‑Advanced Diagnostics services. HSL Cellular Pathology and HSL‑Advanced Diagnostics are UKAS Accredited Medical Laboratories (No. 9007).

Working in the centre of London, the service is located within easy reach of many transport links, being close to Goodge Street, Warren Street and Tottenham Court Road Tube stations and also St Pancras and Euston stations. The local area has an almost endless supply of retail and food outlets, entertainment and cultural opportunities within walking distance.

Training and career progression are core parts of how we operate. We have a dedicated educational faculty within HSL coordinating training activity throughout the company, as well as our own dedicated laboratory‑based training manager who coordinates a range of opportunities for all staff. Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require employees filling certain roles to complete a DBS Check. This role falls into the category of requiring a standard DBS check.
