We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic Band 7 Bank Community Children's Occupational Therapists to join our Staff Bank, supporting services across both acute and community settings. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working from both Evelina London Community children sites and in collaboration with colleagues at the Evelina London Children's Hospital.

To be responsible for provision of a comprehensive specialist Occupational Therapy service for children aged 0-19 years and families in Southwark and Lambeth. To carry a mixed caseload of children with a wide range of developmental difficulties and/or disabilities, many of whom may have highly complex special needs.

Job responsibilities

To provide an advanced standard of occupational therapy assessment, treatment, management and advice to paediatric patients aged 0-19, their families and carers within the community setting. The caseload consists of children with a wide range of development difficulties and/or disabilities, many of whom may have very complex or multiple pathologies. To work as alone practitioner, unsupervised, and at times in conjunction with less senior team colleagues across a variety of locations within the community including patients homes, schools, clinics, to meet the needs of the individual child.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• State registered Occupational Therapist (Health Professional Council)
• Recognised training course for an Occupational therapist.
• Continued Professional Development Portfolio including evidence of reflective practice, in-service training, course attended and clinical experience gained.
• Knowledge of OT models of practice

Desirable

• Knowledge and application of standardised assessments
• Post registration training in paediatric occupational therapy specialist areas.

Experience

Essential

• Previous experience of working in community and/or education settings.
• Previous experience of paediatrics at a band 6 level with post registration experience of paediatrics including neurodevelopment/neurology paediatrics.
• Highly specialist knowledge of Autism Related disorders. Experience of contributing to Education and Health care Plans
• Sound knowledge and experience of a wide range of paediatric neuro- developmental, developmental and neurological conditions at a band 6 level.
• Knowledge and experience of a wide range of assessment and treatment techniques for paediatric neuro development.
• Experience of standardised assessments in paediatrics
• A working knowledge of normal child development.
• Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning skills in relation to treatment and assessment of paediatric clients.
• Experience of multidisciplinary team working and multi agency working.
• Experience of managing other occupational therapists/ support staff.
• Teaching in a clinical setting.
• Student supervision/clinical education.

Desirable

• Experience of attending and presenting at SEN Tribunal and/or Educational Health Care Planning meetings
• Additional training in outcomes to support Education Health Care Plans
• Experience of assessing and using specialist paediatric equipment.
• Experience of research/ audit or project work.
• Experience of Service development.
• Experience of lecturing externally.
• Experience of working as a qualified OT in the NHS.
• Experience of working as a qualified OT in schools.
