We currently have vacancies for Band 6 Senior Recovery Nurse and we are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our peri-operative team. The LNWH NHS Trust utilises innovation in peri-operative practice; as such we have a five (5) bedded Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) that runs collaboratively with our Recovery Unit. We have a tradition of excellence and our vision is simple, to provide a gold standard in peri-operative practice, and invest in you the people who deliver care.
Main duties of the job: This is a rotational role between PACU and Recovery Units at Northwick Park Hospital (NPH) and Central Middlesex Hospital (CMH), part of the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWUH). Recovery/PACU staff are expected to rotate to all shift patterns including weekends as part of working contract. This post primarily will be focused on the immediate post anaesthetic care on adults and children that have undergone elective to complex surgery.

Person Specification:
- Education/Qualifications
- Essential: Current and relevant registration- NMC Registered Nurse, Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Evidence of on-going professional development.
- Desirable: Post registration course in Recovery/HDU/Critical Care Nursing, Qualification in at least one of the accredited emergency care courses (e.g., ILS/PILS/ALS), Teaching Course or equivalent, Appraisal Training.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Essential: Specialist knowledge of a wide range of clinical procedures related to area of practice, Skilled in risk assessment, prioritisation, and time management, able to work independently while recognising own limitations and seeking support appropriately, Knowledge and experience in driving improvements and contributing to service development, Strong understanding of Clinical Governance, current clinical practice, professional nursing issues, and resource management.
- Desirable: Experience of teaching and assessing, Experience in supporting complex discharge of patients.
- Skills, Abilities and Attributes
- Essential: Knowledge in area of speciality, Strong leadership and motivational abilities, supporting and coordinating staff through change, Sound judgement and decision-making, analysing complex situations and prioritising effectively, Ability to work under pressure, managing time and competing demands with flexibility, Proven ability to work both in leading and as part of a team, IT literate and can effectively utilise EPR and systems to work and lead the team.
- Desirable: Experience in service improvement, policy change, and resource management, including stock control and supervision of staff.
