This role requires working across all sites that come under the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Under the supervision of the Manual Handling Advisor, this post will assist in the development of the Manual Handling training service, supporting the Lead Manual Handling Advisor to provide a comprehensive manual handling service to the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of training programmes in Manual Handling practices to all staff.
  • Providing professional advice on safer Manual Handling practices, training, Clinical Governance issues, and Manual Handling equipment.
  • Assisting the Manual Handling Team in maintaining excellent communication internally within the Trust and externally with training providers and contractors.
  • Consistently demonstrating behaviours aligned to the Trust's shared commitments, embedding compassion, inclusion, integrity, and excellence in day-to-day practice.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Providing clinical expertise and advice to managers and staff in relation to Safer Manual Handling practices.
  • Supporting and assisting the Manual Handling Advisors in carrying out assessments for both patients and staff in all workplace settings.
  • Leading in the development and delivery of Manual Handling training programmes for all levels of staff.
  • Delivering training in various settings covering most clinical areas and work environments.
  • Ensuring all Manual Handling training is based on the latest evidence available and adheres to Trust guidelines.
  • Assisting in any Trust-wide review, audit, and standardization of Manual Handling equipment.
  • Working in collaboration with the Manual Handling advisors to investigate adverse incidents related to Manual Handling.
  • Participating in the production of reports, policies, and risk assessments for Manual Handling.

Experience:

  • Relevant clinical experience in an Acute/Community Healthcare setting.
  • Recent experience of group and one-to-one teaching.
  • Recent experience of training others in Manual Handling.
  • Experience of auditing Manual Handling Standards and practices.
  • Evidence of TNA/Lesson planning, feedback evaluation.
  • Recent experience of teaching and developing staff.

Education and professional qualifications:

  • Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, LST or similar), Train-The-Trainer Qualification (e.g., RoSPA Level 4 or similar).
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing clinical/professional development appropriate to role.
