Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Aylesbury

We are pleased to advertise an exciting Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapy role within our School Aged Complex Needs Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with school children with complex needs and eating, drinking and swallowing needs. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team of therapists, delivering high quality SLT services to children on the School Aged Complex Needs caseload across a range of settings.

As part of this role you will be involved in the delivery of specialist input to children and staff within mainstream schools across all settings and key stages, including those who have Education Health & Care Plans (EHCP) as a result of their complex communication difficulties, for example who have severe motor speech difficulties, acquired brain injury (ABI) and/or Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) and/or dysphagia needs at a highly specialist level. The post holder will independently manage the caseloads in these settings and will be involved in the provision of school-aged assessments and delivery of intervention on site in education and community settings including at home.

Essential qualifications include a recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent, Health & Care Professions Council License to Practice, evidence of successful completion of specialist short course in relevant field, and evidence of successful postgraduate training in Dysphagia. Desirable qualifications include being a Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and evidence of membership and participation of AAC CEN/ DYSPHAGIA CEN.

Essential experience includes evidence of experience in working with a complex needs paediatric caseload, evidence of experience in clinical areas of low/mid/high tech AAC at a functional level, working knowledge of the mainstream education system Reception to year 13, and demonstrates well established knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to client group including safeguarding. Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary manner is also required.
