Assistant Chief Nurse – Safeguarding, Quality & Safety London

An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen to join the Chief Nurse team and lead a portfolio across quality, safety and safeguarding adults at UCLH. This role is pivotal to delivering against our strategic priorities and ensuring UCLH continues to deliver the highest standards of quality, safe care. You will work closely with the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurse and Directors of Nursing to lead across a number of nursing priorities aligned to the refreshed Trust strategy.

Main duties of the job:

• Sitting within corporate nursing, you will be an active member of the Nursing & Midwifery Leadership Team (NMLT) and line manage three direct reports: PERRT Lead Nurse, Safeguarding & MCA Lead Nurse and Exemplar Lead.
• You will have responsibility for quality & safety priorities such as safeguarding adults, deteriorating patients, outreach, risk management and the refreshed Exemplar programme.
• As the Chief Nurse Division risk lead, you will oversee the Chief Nurse risk register and represent the Deputy Chief Nurse at Trust wide meetings relating to risk, quality & safety.
• You will take a leadership role in various committees and meetings relating to quality & safety and will deputise for the Deputy Chief Nurse as required.
• You will work closely with a team of senior leaders including directors of nursing, deputy directors of nursing and assistant chief nurses to ensure delivery of high and consistently safe standards of nursing care.
• Promotion of a patient focused multidisciplinary approach to care.
• Measurable outcomes to assure the quality and safety of nursing practice.
• Delivery against the Trust strategy and quality account in relation to nursing & midwifery.

Person Specification:

Knowledge & Qualifications:

• Registered nurse / midwife (NMC)
• Higher professional or management degree (Masters level or higher) or equivalent
• Evidence of on-going personal and professional development
• Portfolio of career long learning

Experience & knowledge:

• Proven nursing/midwifery leadership and management experience
• Experience of leading, implementing and monitoring objectives and priorities
• Experience of reviewing, contributing to and managing contracts, maintaining legal, professional and governance standards
• Demonstrable understanding of relevant national strategy/policy and how this relates to the portfolio
