We are looking for a chartered physiotherapist to join us in Andover, working with older people in a care home and in their own homes. The role starts with a weekly session at a care home in Andover — three hours a week, on a day that suits you. You will assess residents and deliver treatment, working alongside the nursing team, who refer the residents they are most concerned about. It is a settled, predictable block of work with a team who value having a physiotherapist on site. Around that, there is community work. We visit older people at home across Hampshire, and we would want to build your hours through home visits in and around Andover. How quickly that grows is largely up to you — some of our physiotherapists keep it to a morning a week alongside NHS or private work, others have built it into the majority of their week.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Assessing and treating care home residents referred by the nursing team
- Home visits to older people across the Andover area
- Falls prevention, mobility, strength and balance work
- Rehabilitation after fractures, joint replacements, stroke and hospital admissions
- Working with families and carers so that progress continues between visits
- Clear, timely notes and communication with GPs, nurses and families
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- HCPC registered, and CSP membership
- Experience with older people — frailty, falls and rehabilitation after hospital
- Confidence with dementia. A great deal of our work involves people living with dementia, and we need someone who can adapt their approach rather than abandon the session
- Neurological experience, particularly stroke and Parkinson's
- Comfortable working autonomously in someone's home, making clinical decisions on your own
- A car and a full driving licence
- Enhanced DBS (we can arrange this)
WHAT WE OFFER
- £41 per hour
- 45p per mile travel expenses
- Genuine flexibility over when you work
- A named caseload — you see the same people and get to see them improve
- Time to do the job properly. We do not run fifteen-minute appointments
- Clinical support from an experienced team of physiotherapists working across seventeen counties
- Real scope to grow the hours if you want them
ABOUT US
The Caring Physio provides home visit physiotherapy for older people across seventeen counties. Everyone we employ is a chartered physiotherapist. We work in people's houses, on their stairs, in their bathrooms, on the things that decide whether they stay independent — and we are unusual in giving our physiotherapists enough time to actually do that. If you would like to talk it through before applying, we are happy to have an informal conversation first.
