About the Company

Terra is the health operating system. We make it easy for developers and AIs to build on health data. Hundreds of wearables, sensors, labs, and health apps — connected, normalized, and made intelligent through a single platform. Thousands of developers and AI labs build on Terra today. We process 15+ billion health data events per year. Health data is fragmented. Every device, every app, every sensor speaks a different language. We built the health OS to solve that — a full-stack platform that turns raw, messy, siloed health data into something developers and AIs can reason over, build on, and ship with. Terra was founded in 2021 and operates from London, San Francisco, and South Korea. We are funded by Y Combinator (W21), General Catalyst, Samsung NEXT, NEXT Ventures, and many of the world's finest investors. We are a team of engineers, researchers, builders, and designers. We hire people who get things done, think from first principles, and learn ferociously. We default to yes. We ship fast. We hack. We build. We don't do bureaucracy.

About the Role

Why this exists: Health is broken. We're building the infrastructure to fix it. We need someone obsessed with what's being built — not what others are doing, not what's trending — but what actually moves health forward. This role is about finding truth in a foggy space. It's about understanding systems, uncovering the most meaningful innovation in health, and translating that into sharp, clear internal context. You'll work directly with the CEO and team to help Terra build the future, not react to the present.

What you'll do:

  • Analyze data from wearables, biomarkers, and patient-reported outcomes to uncover health trends and predictive signals.
  • Investigate how new sensors, APIs, and platforms are shaping the future of health tracking and diagnostics.
  • Build dynamic research briefs and data-backed playbooks that inform product, clinical, and strategy teams.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., LLMs, vector databases, clustering models) to find patterns, summarize findings, and explore edge cases in health datasets.
  • Evaluate and reverse-engineer how leading health apps structure their onboarding, feedback loops, and engagement models.
  • Conduct meta-research across clinical studies, wellness protocols, and consumer behaviours to identify high-leverage insights.
  • Create visual, high-signal documents (dashboards, timelines, comparisons) that cut through noise and clarify direction.
  • Share emerging trends early — not to react, but to position us ahead of the curve.

Who you are:

  • Obsessed with health, the body, and systems.
  • Thinks from first principles.
  • Writes clean, hard-hitting copy — no filler.
  • Doesn't seek permission — sees what's missing and fills it.
  • Uses tools (GPT, APIs, code) to get to truth faster.
  • Doesn't care about competitors, markets, or categories — just impact.

Bonus if:

  • You've built something yourself.
  • You've written insight that's changed people's thinking.
  • You spend weekends going down rabbit holes most people don't understand.
