To support the delivery of tax compliance requirements for a European pharmaceutical headquarters. The role will have a dotted line to the Tax Manager within the European Holdings tax team, who will supervise the ongoing activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Corporation Tax
- Manage all aspects of the process to prepare the corporation tax return for UK entities and the Dutch entity with the external provider, for review by the European Holdings tax team.
- Assist in all processes related to R&D claims for the purpose of the UK corporation tax return.
- Manage queries in relation to corporation tax.
- Assist in all activities related to patent box claims.
- Assist in all processes related to capital allowances claims on leasehold improvements.
- Provide corporation tax computations for the accounts team and for payment estimation for the three entities.
- Prepare instalment payments to local tax authorities.
- Prepare and manage the process for all necessary data for external advisors to prepare Intrastat, EC Sales Listings, and VAT returns across all relevant countries.
- Review underlying documentation in relation to submissions, from invoices to system information, and follow through to ensure issues/errors are addressed.
- Oversee and verify the accuracy of supply chain flows of all products from a VAT, Intrastat, and ESL perspective.
- Drive changes and maintain key master data information in SAP B1 relevant to VAT, Intrastat, and ESL.
- Act as a key contact for supply chain and finance in applying correct VAT principles within the business.
- Assist the accounting services team in the reconciliation of VAT control accounts.
- Assist with audit queries from tax authorities of any nature.
- Ensure correctness of VAT codes on invoices in the Ariba system.
- Gather and analyze information supporting tax recovery data necessary to make various tax recovery reclaims, including but not limited to VAT on T&E expenses, R&D, and medical taxes.
- Support the acquisition of necessary information in the event of tax audits by authorities, under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Group Tax.
- Assist with year-end adjustments.
- Assist with yearly tentative price preparation.
- Coordinate and assist with transfer pricing documentation.
- Ensure all POs are raised and up to date for GRN.
- Manage all relevant filings for corporation tax and VAT returns.
- Maintain all relevant tax deadlines.
- Maintain accuracy of tax-related vendor accounts in systems.
- Participate in more complex tax matters with support from the Group Tax team.

- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA).
- Advanced Excel skills essential (pivot tables, lookups, workbook consolidation).

- Working knowledge of corporation tax and VAT returns.
- Ability to interpret data within a business context.
