We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Writer / Medical Writer to join our publications-focused team within a leading medical communications agency. This fully remote position (UK-based) offers the opportunity to work across high-value scientific publications, strategic communication plans, and global medical affairs initiatives for top-tier pharmaceutical clients.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, scientifically robust content while collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and external authors. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment, values scientific accuracy, and enjoys taking ownership of publication deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scientific Content Development
    • Develop, write, and edit high-quality scientific publications including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and congress materials.
    • Ensure all content meets industry standards, client expectations, and relevant compliance guidelines (e.g., GPP, ICMJE).
    • Interpret and communicate complex clinical data with clarity, accuracy, and appropriate scientific rigor.
  • Strategy & Planning
    • Contribute to or lead publication plans, including gap analyses, publication timelines, and tactical recommendations.
    • Support strategic discussions with clients around publication priorities and scientific communication needs.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of therapeutic areas, competitive landscapes, and emerging data.
  • Collaboration & Client Interaction
    • Work closely with cross-functional internal teams (account managers, project managers, editors, designers).
    • Engage with clients, authors, and KOLs to ensure alignment on scientific messaging, timelines, and expectations.
    • Attend advisory boards, steering committee meetings, and scientific congresses as required (virtual or in-person).
  • Quality, Compliance & Process
    • Ensure adherence to publication guidelines (GPP, ICMJE, company SOPs).
    • Participate in internal review processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and scientific integrity.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal writing processes and best practices.
Skills & Experience
  • Required
    • Prior experience within a medical communications agency, specifically within publications (pubs).
    • Demonstrable track record writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals or congresses.
    • Strong understanding of clinical research, study design, and data interpretation.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with publication guidelines (GPP, ICMJE).
  • Preferred
    • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MSc, PharmD, MD, or similar).
    • Experience working directly with clients and authors.
    • Therapeutic experience in one or more key areas (e.g., oncology, rare disease, immunology, neurology, cardiology).
