Executive Director, Drug Product Innovation

This role is a strategic addition to a growing biotherapeutics R&D team focused on advancing parenteral drug product development. The team supports the formulation and commercialization of biologics, genetic medicines, and other complex therapeutics. The ideal candidate will drive innovation in drug delivery technologies and help build platforms for next-generation formulations. This is a highly technical, research-focused role without direct managerial responsibilities.

Base pay range

$250,000.00/yr - $350,000.00/yr

Summary

Job Duties

  • Lead research and development of advanced parenteral formulation and drug delivery technologies.
  • Build and manage external collaborations with academic institutions and startups to access cutting-edge innovations.
  • Contribute to scientific advancements through publications, presentations, and thought leadership.
  • Guide or conduct formulation and process development across all stages of drug product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with discovery, chemistry, toxicology, and device teams to integrate and accelerate development.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15–25 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry focused on formulation and drug delivery technologies.
  • Proven success in mentoring and coaching senior scientists and engineers.
  • Expertise in complex biologics and modalities, including oligos, proteins, and peptides.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and experience building platforms for novel drug product modalities.
