The role is focused on ensuring compliance with data protection laws, implementing European privacy strategy, and embedding a culture of privacy throughout the organisation.

You’ll act as both a strategic advisor and hands‑on subject matter expert, providing practical guidance across a variety of business functions. This role offers visibility and influence at a regional level, with opportunities to work cross‑functionally and engage with global colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a dedicated business partner for data privacy across certain business areas.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, advice, and support on GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy, and emerging European data protection laws.
  • Develop and implement documentation including privacy notices, consent forms, DPIAs, RoPAs, policies, and guidelines.
  • Support data privacy elements of contracts and manage relationships with external counsel (as required).
  • Deliver training and awareness programs to embed a culture of privacy across Europe.
  • Conduct horizon-scanning to anticipate changes in data protection regulations and advise on impact.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Law (required); postgraduate qualification or professional certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience providing data privacy advice in a highly regulated environment.
  • Expert knowledge of GDPR and European privacy law and practice.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical devices sector (preferred).
  • IAPP certifications (CIPP / E, CIPM, or equivalent) are advantageous.
  • Strong ability to solve complex privacy issues with commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while knowing when to elevate.
  • Service‑oriented mindset with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and mission‑driven business, taking ownership of data privacy across Europe in a highly visible role. You’ll have the chance to shape strategy, lead cross‑functional initiatives, and ensure the highest standards of compliance in a fast‑paced, global environment.
