We are seeking a high-performing Key Account Manager to drive growth and optimise access for a portfolio of pain management and anti-infective medicines across a strategically important UK territory. This role will focus on building strong, value-based partnerships with key NHS stakeholders, delivering excellent in-field execution, and supporting appropriate use of products in line with clinical guidelines and local priorities.
Responsibilities
- Account & Stakeholder Management β Develop and execute robust Key Account Plans for priority NHS accounts, including ICSs, Trusts, and Health Boards; build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including consultants, GPs, pharmacists, microbiologists, pain specialists, medicines management teams, and procurement leads; map decision-making units and influence pathways within accounts to drive formulary access and uptake; achieve and exceed sales targets and KPIs across the territory; drive product adoption through high-quality, compliant promotional activity; identify opportunities to expand use within approved indications and pathways.
- Market Access & Business Planning β Support formulary submissions, business cases, and local evaluations; align brand strategy with local NHS priorities such as antimicrobial stewardship, pain pathways, cost-effectiveness, and patient outcomes; work cross-functionally with Market Access, Medical, and Commercial colleagues to deliver integrated account solutions.
- Clinical & Product Expertise β Maintain strong disease, product, and NHS knowledge across pain management and anti-infectives; deliver high-quality clinical discussions tailored to customer needs; ensure all activity is compliant with ABPI Code of Practice and company policies.
- Territory Management β Effectively plan and prioritise time across a large, complex geography; use CRM and analytics tools to track performance, insights, and opportunities; represent the company professionally at meetings, educational events, and conferences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Key Account Manager or Senior Sales Representative in UK pharmaceuticals
- Strong understanding of the UK NHS structure, including ICSs and formulary processes
- Demonstrated success in managing complex accounts and multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills
- Self-motivated, resilient, and highly organised
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience in pain management, anti-infectives, hospital sales, or specialty care
- Knowledge of antimicrobial stewardship programmes and/or pain pathways
- Experience working across both primary and secondary care
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
- Customer-centric and outcomes-focused
- Collaborative team player
- High ethical standards and compliance mindset
Location & Travel
Field-based role covering South West England, West Midlands, and Cardiff. Regular travel within the territory with occasional national meetings.
