The Medical Information Specialist provides accurate, unbiased, balanced, and timely responses to unsolicited medical and clinical enquiries regarding the company’s products from healthcare professionals. The role ensures that all responses maintain appropriate content, scientific standards, and compliance.

This is a comprehensive Medical Information role with a strong focus on both external customer support and internal engagement across Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial, Quality, Supply, Market Access, and Brand teams. The position involves content development, maintenance of repositories and resources, and providing specialist product knowledge to support the wider business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, document, and respond to written medical information requests escalated by the service provider.
  • Provide accurate medical and clinical information in response to enquiries from healthcare professionals and consumers regarding company products.
  • Update and/or create scientific response documents for global and regional products.
  • Remain current with all published medical literature for assigned brands and competitors; critically analyse data for inclusion in response documents.
  • Identify, organise, and maintain clinical and clinical trial information on products, competitors, and the therapeutic area.
  • Continuously review enquiry metrics to ensure scientific response documents remain relevant and up-to-date.
  • Analyse and communicate insights generated from medical information enquiry trends.
  • Provide product training to the contact centre service provider and collaborate as needed for specific brands.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to develop and maintain timely and relevant product expertise.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues, participate in cross-functional meetings, and contribute to group discussions.
  • Act as an educational resource for both internal and external customers.
  • Attend external medical conferences as needed and staff the Medical Information Booth.
  • Perform copy review (medical review) of promotional and non-promotional materials for assigned brands.
  • Support the maintenance of repositories, intranet pages, tracking systems, and other Medical Information resources.
  • Contribute to interdepartmental projects and provide medical, scientific, and technical information regarding company products.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant company SOPs, working practices, regulations, and industry Codes of Practice (including EFPIA and national codes, PIPA guidelines, Data Protection, Copyright, and Pharmacovigilance requirements).
  • Support the implementation of new systems and guidelines within the Medical Information team.
Main Interactions

Internal: Medical Affairs team members, Commercial teams, Compliance, Regulatory, Affiliates across Europe, Market Access, Quality, Supply, and Brand teams.

External: Contact Centre Service Provider.

  • Experience in handling medical information enquiries and maintaining enquiry recording systems.
  • Developing and maintaining standard response documents for frequently asked questions.
  • Knowledge of procedures for handling medical information enquiries.
  • Solid understanding of Medical Information best practices.
  • Knowledge of EFPIA, ABPI (or equivalent national) Codes and pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Expertise in literature searching, journal scanning, and identifying key papers.
  • Strong understanding of medical compliance.
  • Experience in medical writing (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials (highly preferred).
  • Detail-oriented with proven ability to lead projects, multi-task, and work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with IRMS medical information database is desirable.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Pharmacy degree (or equivalent life sciences/medical qualification).
  • 4–6 years’ Medical Information experience, preferably within a large pharmaceutical company.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Pharmacovigilance and compliance (highly preferred).
  • Experience providing Medical Information in a European context (highly desirable).
  • Experience in medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials (highly preferred).
  • Experience with PromoMat or similar promotional material management systems (advantage).
