About the Role:
A leading global medical communications agency is seeking a highly skilled and driven Associate Principal Medical Writer to join their dynamic Medical team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of high-quality, scientifically accurate content across a variety of therapeutic areas, while also playing a strategic role in client engagement and internal team development.
You will act as a senior editorial lead, providing scientific insight and strategic input across accounts, mentoring junior writers, and supporting the overall delivery of impactful healthcare communications.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and review of scientifically robust, client-aligned content across multiple formats
- Act as the primary editorial contact for clients, offering scientific direction and consultation
- Ensure content consistently meets quality, compliance, and brand standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project delivery and timeline adherence
- Manage multiple projects with accountability for planning, scope, and resource allocation
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, including review and feedback
- Stay up to date with relevant therapy area developments, industry guidelines, and best practices
- Contribute to internal initiatives such as training, knowledge sharing, and CSR activities
Requirements:
- Prior experience in medical writing within a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical company
- Strong scientific background (minimum of a life sciences degree; MSc or PhD preferred)
- Proven ability to produce and review high-quality scientific content
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in client-facing settings
- Exceptional attention to detail and understanding of industry compliance standards
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt to evolving client needs
- Strong organisational, leadership, and project management capabilities
- Confidence in mentoring, training, and supporting junior writers
