Medical Advisor / Medical Affairs Specialist / Medical Affairs Manager
Location: Hertfordshire (3 days per week in the office)
About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing, international pharmaceutical company that is expanding its Medical Affairs function in the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Medical Affairs professional to take on a varied and impactful role within an agile, privately owned pharmaceutical business. With a strong established portfolio and continued expansion into new therapeutic areas, the organisation offers the opportunity to contribute to medical strategy, build relationships with key external experts and play an important role in the development of its UK medical function.
The role
Working closely with the Medical Manager and wider cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the development and delivery of medical strategy, support scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and help shape medical activities across the relevant therapeutic areas.
As part of a relatively small and collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with international colleagues and contribute beyond a narrowly defined remit.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of medical strategies and plans across the relevant therapeutic area.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals and external scientific experts.
- Lead and support scientific exchange and medical engagement activities, both in the field and in the office.
- Work collaboratively with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Brand and other cross-functional colleagues to support the successful delivery of medical initiatives.
- Collaborate with international colleagues, particularly teams based in Germany, to support alignment and share best practice.
- Provide scientific and medical insights to inform business planning and medical strategy.
- Support the review and approval of relevant medical and promotional materials, in line with applicable industry codes and internal procedures, where appropriately qualified.
- Take ownership of projects and contribute to the ongoing development of the UK Medical Affairs function.
About you
We are interested in speaking with proactive, curious and commercially aware Medical Affairs professionals who enjoy working in a dynamic environment and are motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact.
You will ideally have:
- Experience within Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Exposure to medical strategy, strategic planning or the development of medical plans.
- Experience engaging with KOLs and other external healthcare professionals.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative and manage a varied workload.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative approach and an enthusiasm for learning and professional development.
- The ability to work effectively with colleagues across different functions and countries.
A background as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) may also be suitable, particularly where you have contributed to medical strategy or planning in addition to field-based engagement.
A pharmacy or medical qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. Existing ABPI signatory experience is highly desirable, although candidates with the potential to develop their signatory capabilities will also be considered.
Working pattern: Three days per week in the Hertfordshire office.
