Chef to plan menus and prepare bespoke menu based on clients' requirements. The Chef will need to have knowledge in different types of cooking styles mainly for Gujarati and Punjabi clientele. The chef will take on a head role where he/she is able to manage a group of kitchen porters and other kitchen assistants, delegate tasks, and manage the process from pre-preparation to finished product. It is important the chef is familiar with different types of Gujarati dishes and is also able to trial and test new recipes for clients.

Entry requirements: There are no formal academic requirements. Training is provided off- and on-the-job. NVQs/SVQs, BTEC Certificates, Diplomas, foundation degrees, and apprenticeships leading to an NVQ/SVQ at Level 3 are all good to have but not necessary for this job role. Any food safety certificates or tests required can be done once you have been successful in receiving the offer letter. Training will be provided for this.

Outline of Tasks:

  • Requisitions or purchases and examines foodstuffs from suppliers to ensure quality.
  • Plans menus, prepares, seasons, and cooks foodstuffs or oversees their preparation and monitors the quality of finished dishes.
  • Supervises, organises, and instructs kitchen staff and manages the whole kitchen or an area of the kitchen.
  • Ensures relevant hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained within the kitchen.
  • Plans and co-ordinates kitchen work such as fetching, clearing, and cleaning of equipment and utensils.

Salary: The minimum salary ranges between £20,480 to £25,600 depending on experience and knowledge in the industry.

Working hours: This job will be a full-time position with hours ranging from 40-45 per week.
