Medwyn Occupational Health is growing and we are looking for a Business Manager to help lead that growth. We are a SEQOHS-accredited service based in Dorking, Surrey, with an established client base across schools, healthcare and the private sector. We are proud of what we have built. Now we are focused on what comes next and this role is central to that.
Reporting to our Medical Director, you will take ownership of the operational, financial and commercial performance of the service. You will bring structure, clarity and momentum. It is a broad, hands-on role with real variety and influence.
You will be responsible for:
- Client relationships and business development: Lead on account management and business development, including proposals, pricing, renewals and new client acquisition. Oversee the delivery of seasonal programmes such as flu clinics. Identify opportunities to expand services and improve profitability.
- Operational leadership: Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of a busy occupational health service. Improve processes, optimise clinician capacity and maintain high service standards aligned with SEQOHS requirements.
- People management and HR: Lead recruitment, onboarding, appraisals and workforce planning. Oversee payroll coordination, mandatory training and professional development.
- Compliance and governance: Maintain robust policies and systems. Support client audit processes and lead preparation for SEQOHS accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Financial oversight and performance management: Work alongside our bookkeeper (who manages day-to-day invoicing) to oversee budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow monitoring and cost control. Develop clear management information and KPIs to support decision-making and sustainable growth.
What we are looking for:
- A background in healthcare operations, practice management or a similarly regulated environment.
- Strong financial literacy - comfortable reviewing budgets, analysing performance data and driving improvement.
- Commercial awareness and confidence in client-facing environment.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach.
- Someone motivated by building and improving, not simply maintaining the status quo.
- Experience in occupational health is a bonus, but not essential. Curiosity, commercial instinct and the ability to learn quickly are more important.
What this role offers:
- Direct collaboration with the Medical Director.
- Real influence over how the business develops.
- A broad and varied leadership role.
- A competitive salary - £55,000-£65,000 (depending on experience).
