Overview

In this role you lead Medway Council’s children’s residential home for disabled children, shaping high-quality, child-centred care in a safe and therapeutic setting. You drive service standards, safeguarding and regulatory compliance while building strong partnerships with families, schools and health professionals. Your leadership helps more children remain close to home and achieve positive outcomes. This is a chance to influence practice at scale within an award-ready framework and contribute to the One Medway Council Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a skilled, motivated staff team
  • Promote a culture of high support and high challenge
  • Ensure safeguarding is central to decision-making
  • Drive standards of care, practice and compliance
  • Build relationships with families, schools, health professionals and social care partners
  • Ensure individual children’s needs and aspirations shape care
  • Lead the home to achieve and maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating

Key requirements

  • Significant experience within children's residential care
  • Experience supporting children with disabilities and complex needs
  • Strong track record of leading and developing teams
  • Extensive safeguarding knowledge and practice experience
  • Understanding of Ofsted requirements and Children's Homes Regulations
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children, families and professionals
