We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Business Support Team Leader within the Children's Services division to provide support to the service. The duties include line management of business support officers, liaising with other team leaders to ensure peaks are managed, and ensuring effective administration support is provided at all times. The role involves working closely with Heads of Service to allocate and prioritise work, providing meeting support, maintaining financial records and undertaking project work.
About You
- Hold an NVQ3 in Business Administration and a good standard of education (minimum GCSE grade 5 or above), including Maths and English.
- Work 37 hours per week (Monday‑Friday).
- The role is hybrid: expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week with the option to home‑work on the remaining days.
- Have experience managing a team, providing one‑to‑one supervision and performance reviews, and managing absence, disciplinary and performance procedures.
- Possess a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and their application.
Career Progression Framework
Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. The salary offered will be at level A unless you demonstrate meeting the criteria of level B or C. Progression from level A to B and then B to C is possible once in post. Applicants should identify their suitability against the job profile requirements as these will inform shortlisting and may contribute to the CPF assessment. The minimum required criteria must be met for consideration. The role is at level A – the entry point. Essential competencies at level A are required; supported development is offered through induction, probation and performance appraisal.
