An opportunity has arisen for an experienced administrative Business Support Officer in the Children in Care Team. This is a fixed-term post for 12 months. The successful applicant will provide support to social workers in the Children in Care Team based at the Medway Council office at Broadside, Chatham.

Duties will involve:

  • Minuting meetings and handling related follow-up actions.
  • Managing financial tasks, including processing payments for the Children in Care Team.
  • Inputting data into the Council’s information systems.
  • Administering processes and procedures using available equipment and ICT packages to meet organisational standards and requirements.
  • Answering telephone calls of a sensitive nature and providing flexible support to other business support staff during periods of absence or high workload.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Experience in minuting meetings.
  • Financial experience with payment processing.
  • Ability to input data into information systems and work with ICT packages.

Career Progression:

The Children in Care Team is seeking a Business Support Officer at level A. This is an entry point; you will need to demonstrate relevant knowledge, experience and skills to start, with development supported through induction, probation and a Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation. All elements of level A listed within the person specification are essential. Through induction you will be introduced to the Career Progression Framework (CPF) to identify strengths and development needs.
