Following recent investment in additional management capacity across the service, we are looking for an Assistant Team Manager in the Children and Young People’s Disability Teams with a focus on Preparation for Adulthood and Court of Protection work. The successful candidate will apply strong practical and functional knowledge in these areas to complex cases, support, guide and develop others, and commit to making a difference to children in Medway.
Reporting to a Team Manager, you will lead and manage a small team of social workers and create a supportive, collaborative team environment. Assistant Team Managers do not hold a caseload. You will deliver high-quality supervision and support social workers in case management to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people.
You will ensure assessments, care planning and interventions are timely, effective and child-centred. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice. You will work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and other partners. You will join an experienced team focused on relationship and strengths-based work with children and families. The team supports children and young people who have a disability and are supported under Child in Need plans, Child Protection plans, Children in Care, PfA and Court of Protection work.

You will hold a recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You will have successfully completed your ASYE. You will have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
This position is subject to an Enhanced Children’s DBS Check.
