For our Global Communications team, we are seeking a Principal Communications Specialist to serve as a strategic communications leader for Medtronic’s Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST) international business. This role supports Western Europe, Japan, and Australia–New Zealand, while coordinating closely with Region-Led Markets (RLM). This is a remote position based in Spain, Italy, or the UK, with expected international travel.

In this exciting role, you will lead the development and integration of internal and external communications strategies across the region, ensuring alignment with business priorities while strengthening and protecting the CST brand and reputation globally. You will serve as a trusted advisor to regional leadership and act as a key link between global communications strategy and local market execution, translating complex business and clinical topics into clear, compelling communications that engage employees and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Serve as the primary communications partner to international leadership across Western Europe, Japan, and ANZ, providing strategic counsel on messaging, positioning, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and lead integrated internal and external communications strategies aligned to business priorities, the Medtronic Mission, and CST objectives.
  • Oversee end-to-end planning and execution of regional communications programs, ensuring consistent narrative alignment across markets with flexibility for local customization.
  • Partner across Integrated Communications, Global Marketing, operating units, and in-country communicators to drive a coordinated “One CST” approach and ensure effective flow of priorities, insights, and feedback.
  • Advance and protect the company’s reputation through media relations, thought leadership, product launch support, crisis communications, and market development initiatives.
  • Lead internal communications and employee engagement strategies that connect employees to business priorities, organizational changes, leadership messaging, and the broader CST mission.
  • Measure communications effectiveness and use insights to continuously refine strategies, strengthen message pull-through, and optimize impact across regions.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or integrated communications (or 5+ years with advanced degree).
  • Proven experience developing and executing integrated communications strategies across multiple channels and audiences.
  • Good level in English.
  • Experience working in global or multi-market environments, with sensitivity to cultural and regional differences.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and counsel senior leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
