Due to the continued expansion of the Affera™ Mapping System and Medtronic’s sustained investment in the Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) portfolio, we are seeking a dynamic individual to step into a newly established leadership role as Affera Clinical Development Manager, Northwest Europe. The successful candidate will be a strategic clinical leader responsible for shaping and executing clinical launch strategies, as well as driving the development and implementation of plans for new product introductions, including the Affera mapping system and its comprehensive portfolio of associated technologies.
In this position, you will lead a team of high-performing Clinical Development Specialists across the UK, Ireland, Benelux, and the Nordics. The team will play a critical role in the successful launch and adoption of innovative products designed for use with the Affera mapping and ablation system, alongside other electrophysiology technologies throughout Northwest Europe. This role offers a unique combination of advanced technical expertise in cardiac mapping and strong leadership responsibilities, presenting a highly impactful and rewarding career opportunity. The Affera Clinical Development Manager will report directly to the Affera Clinical Lead, NWE – Cardiac Ablation Solutions. You will need a full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Collaborate closely with national and regional Sales teams, as well as Regional Clinical Managers across NWE, to develop robust clinical development strategies and execute deployment plans through the Clinical Development Specialists.
- Ensure the successful and timely launch of new products across regional markets, aligned with achieving or exceeding CAS growth objectives.
- Partner with Marketing and R&D teams at UK, European, and global levels to support the seamless introduction and adoption of new technologies into the market.
- Lead and manage clinical engagement strategies with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and new users across NWE, ensuring strong clinical and scientific outcomes from early evaluations and new product introductions.
- Lead regional education plans for new product launches targeting both clinical and commercial teams. Collaborate closely with the Training & Education (T&E) team to develop high-quality training content, and with Marketing to ensure clear and effective messaging.
- Ensure consistent and impactful delivery to customers through appropriate channels, including in-person training led by Clinical Development Specialists.
- Collect, consolidate, and critically evaluate clinical best practices from hospitals and operators utilising the CAS portfolio across NWE. Work closely with the European Affera Clinical Excellence Manager and collaborate with Medtronic CAS clinical counterparts in other regions to define best practices and key success factors and ensure effective dissemination of these insights to field teams.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Science or Medical Engineering is preferred.
- Typically, 6+ years of relevant experience as an EP Cardiac Physiologist or in a clinical/technical role within Cardiac Electrophysiology.
- Strong understanding of electrophysiology (EP) and ablation technologies, including their clinical applications.
- Hands-on clinical EP experience, including expertise in 3D mapping systems and independent support of both routine and complex EP procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong team collaboration skills.
- Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., IBHRE, EHRA, BHRS) is advantageous.
