Deliver compassionate, independent healthcare to detained persons across police custody settings. A fast-paced, rewarding role where your clinical judgement directly shapes individual welfare and public safety.
Job Purpose
Provide holistic, timely assessment and care — including fitness for detention/interview/court, physical/mental health, substance misuse/withdrawal, minor injuries, forensic sampling, medicines support, safeguarding and onward referral.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and deliver safe clinical care to detainees; escalate risks promptly
- Advise on fitness to detain, interview, charge/release and court attendance
- Complete holistic assessments: physical, mental health, substance misuse, vulnerability & safeguarding
- Deliver treatment, medicines support, forensic sampling and referrals within scope
- Advise police/custody staff on care needs, risk and welfare arrangements
- Maintain accurate, real-time clinical/forensic records on xgikmsk approved systems
- Engage in training, supervision, CPD and service improvement
