Position Summary – This position contributes to the Company's success by providing leadership, guidance and energy to actively identify, cultivate and solicit potential business prospects and to maintain current client business. The incumbent oversees proposal preparation and presentations of the Company’s capabilities, programs and services that are produced in a cost-effective manner, employing economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality. Supervise project selection and evaluation activities, assist with expert consultation activities and establish the Company’s Business Development process.
The Director of Business Development drives revenue growth and strategic partnerships by identifying, cultivating, and securing new business opportunities, while also expanding relationships with existing clients. This role leads the development and execution of business development strategies that align with MedPharm’s overall vision, particularly within pharmaceutical drug development and commercial manufacturing. The Director delivers presentations, and client engagement strategies, ensuring a high-quality and cost-effective approach to grow the business. This position operates with a high level of independence and cross-functional collaboration, playing a key role in shaping MedPharm’s business development process and market positioning.
Essential Functions- Develop and implement business development strategies that support long-term corporate growth and profitability.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within drug development all the way to commercial manufacturing sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key decision-makers to foster trust and promote MedPharm’s capabilities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align BD strategies with corporate goals and share market trends as they occur.
- Oversee the end-to-end sales cycle, including managing RFP processes, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
- Represent the Company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, promoting our services and identifying new leads.
- Analyze industry intelligence and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
- Develop annual strategic plans and regularly track performance against KPIs and revenue targets.
- Provide input and oversight into marketing materials and client communications.
- Prepare and diligently maintain a comprehensive pipeline and client contact reports for senior leadership within Sales Force and/or any other CRM platform.

Education and Experience: B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related discipline, MBA preferred; 10 + years in the pharmaceutical industry with working experience in account-based selling.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Established network and strong relationships within topical and trans-dermal drug development and manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors. Deep understanding of drug development and associated regulatory and commercial landscapes. Proven ability to evaluate and prioritize BD opportunities aligned with company strategy. Strong market analysis skills and business acumen. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills. Capable of influencing stakeholders through data-driven insights and strategic thinking. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Adobe).
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, there may be certain physical demands required for the position. May be required to lift 20kg. Requires standing for extended periods.
