About Medly AI
We're the fastest growing Ed Tech startup in London, on a mission to change education forever.
This is a moment where AI-native companies are reshaping entire industries, from Cursor in code, to Midjourney in image generation, to Harvey in law.
Medly is building that company for education.
Since launch, we've reached over 400,000 students with retention rates that beat Duolingo, and we've delivered personalised learning with real results.
We're backed by impact-focused VCs and supported by partners including UCL, Innovate UK, Microsoft, and Google.
The role
We're looking for a Junior Product Designer to join our London team.
You'll work directly alongside our founders, Engineers, and our designers to design the core learning experience that hundreds of thousands of students use every day.
This is a hands-on role for an early-career designer with exceptional taste who wants to grow fast.
You'll take features from idea to shipped UI - sketching flows, designing screens, and obsessing over the details - with designers and the wider team supporting you.
You'll own real parts of the product early on.
We care deeply about craft.
The best people in this role notice the half-pixel misalignment, have strong opinions about typography and motion, and can explain why one design feels right and another doesn't.
What you'll do
- Design UI for new and existing features across our learning app
- Take features from wireframe to production-ready screens, working closely with product and engineering
- Contribute to and help maintain our design system in Figma
- Translate user needs and product goals into simple, intuitive flows
- Prototype interactions to test and communicate ideas before they're built
- Incorporate feedback from users, data, and the team to refine your designs
- Help keep the product consistent and beautifully designed as we grow
What we're looking for
- A portfolio of product or UI design work (academic, personal, internship, or freelance all count) that shows genuine taste - considered layout, typography, colour, and attention to detail
- A degree (completed or in progress) from a leading university or top design school - we especially like hybrid backgrounds like Design Engineering, HCI, or design alongside a rigorous academic subject
- Recent graduate, or up to around 1 year of professional design experience
- Solid UI/UX fundamentals - layout, hierarchy, typography, colour, and interaction
- Confident in Figma
- Genuinely keen to learn fast and take feedback well
- Deep interest in education and how students actually learn
- Bonus points
- A Design Engineering, HCI, or engineering-adjacent degree
- Exposure to design systems and component-based design
- Comfort with prototyping in Figma or similar
- A little motion, illustration, or front-end (HTML/CSS) knowledge
- B2C or mobile app design experience
- Who thrives here
- You care about quality and take pride in work that holds up under scrutiny
- You have a point of view on what good design looks like, and can defend it
- Curious about users, and willing to dig into feedback and data to understand them
- Happy to take initiative. If something looks off, you flag it or fix it
- Comfortable in a startup environment. Things move very quickly and priorities shift often.
- What you'll get
- Mentorship from designers and direct work with our founders
- On-site in our central London office, as part of a close-knit team
- The chance to shape a product used by hundreds of thousands of students worldwide
- A team that takes your ideas seriously and ships them
- Real ownership and room to grow quickly
