Summary
Medlock Partners are delighted to be exclusively our client, a specialist Manufacturing Group based in the Lancashire area as they look to appoint a technically competent Financial Accountant.
Reporting directly into the Group Head Of Finance, the Financial Accountant will take full responsibility for the financial reporting activities for the site, implementing and ensuring robust financial controls and supporting the wider business.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day accounting, month end closing and group reporting for the UK holding entities.
- Preparing and submitting statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Companies House regulations.
- Managing all aspects of corporation tax compliance, including calculations, returns, and dealing with HMRC.
- Ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and preparing VAT returns in a timely manner.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Liaising with external auditors on the areas the role is responsible for.
- Assisting with other regulatory reports as required (e.g., environmental reporting, statistical returns).
- Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Providing support and guidance within the finance team on regulatory and statutory matters.
- Work with members of the finance team based in the Shared Service Centre (SSC), providing support and guidance where necessary.
- Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee the Volume Sales Rebate programme, validation of Rebate settlements, and monitoring the Rebates related accounts reconciliations.
Key Requirements
- ACA/ACCA Qualified
- Strong technical accounting knowledge. Current knowledge of relevant accounting GAAP.
- Ensure workload is managed in order to meet deadlines.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, where the business is continually evolving.
- Needs to be able to work independently and be part of a team, as the role sits within the small local team and is part of the larger SSC team.
- Effectively communicate with various stakeholders within the business, whether in person or over Teams.
- Excellent knowledge of IT systems (Microsoft) and a quick learner on new financial software packages. Experience of ERP Systems beneficial.
The ideal candidate will be a technically competent, ideally ACA/ACCA qualified finance professional who can demonstrate a proven track record of maintaining strong financial controls and working towards strict deadlines in either a large business or subsidiary of a larger group.
This role would suit either a practice trained finance professional, 1st time move or a candidate already with industry experience in a similar remit.
The successful candidate will enjoy full autonomy in their position however, will also benefit from a group structure and be in a unique position that blends independence with valuable resources and support from the wider business.
