I'm working exclusively with a highly regarded, well-established law firm in Manchester that is looking to appoint an experienced Family Lawyer (5+ PQE) as part of the continued growth of its Family team. This is a genuinely strong opportunity to join a team that is well-ranked, respected in the market, and known for its quality of work, supportive culture, and long-standing client relationships. The firm has a clear focus on client care, people development, and doing things properly – not just billing hours.

The firm is open-minded on background and is happy to tailor the role around the right individual. You may be:

  • A private family lawyer specialising in divorce, finances, children, and separation matters;
  • A care/children specialist, ideally panel-accredited or keen to work towards it;
  • A well-rounded family solicitor with experience across a broad range of family law matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advising clients on a wide range of family law issues
  • Managing your own caseload end-to-end with a high standard of client care
  • Keeping clients regularly updated on progress and costs
  • Working collaboratively within a close-knit team
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate
  • Contributing to the ongoing growth and development of the department
  • Meeting agreed billing and time recording targets

About you

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 5 years’ PQE in family law
  • Confident managing your own caseload
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Commercially aware but genuinely client-focused
  • A team player who enjoys working in a supportive, flexible environment
  • A following or niche practice is welcomed but not essential – attitude, quality, and fit matter more than a book of business.

What’s on offer

  • A supportive, non-toxic culture with real flexibility
  • Hybrid working (up to 2 days from home)
  • Clear scope for progression and increased responsibility
  • High-quality work and a strong existing client base
  • The chance to help shape a growing Family team in Manchester

If you’re a Family Lawyer in Manchester (or looking to relocate) and open to a confidential discussion, I’d be happy to talk you through the firm, the team, and how this role could fit your longer-term career plans. Feel free to message me directly or get in touch for a discreet conversation.
