Summary: Medlock Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering our client, a successful and highly regarded specialist SME Group based in the Warrington area as they look to appoint a technically competent and commercially orientated Finance Manager/Financial Controller within their thriving business. Boasting an enviable and diverse client portfolio, our client predominantly operates within the UK however, does have a significant international presence. Reporting directly into a highly experienced Finance Director and managing a small finance function, the successful applicant will oversee and manage the day to day financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting, whilst providing strategic insights to support the business growth and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring financial targets are met across the business.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, Corporation Tax, and other relevant UK regulations.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to senior leadership, supporting decision-making on cost control, project performance, and profitability.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial liquidity, ensuring the business can meet its operational and strategic objectives.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Ensure accurate year-end reporting and assist with audits.
- Coordinate with project managers to provide financial insights that support project delivery, cost tracking, and margin management.
- Drive improvements in financial processes and controls to enhance business efficiency.

Key Requirements:
- Qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
- Previous experience within a similar role preferably within a SME environment
- Experience within the construction and/or manufacturing industry
- Ability to lead the production of management accounts
- Experience of overseeing financial year end
- Able to manage and oversee cashflow
- Able to lead, manage and monitor budgeting and forecasting
The ideal candidate will be a technically competent, ideally ACCA or CIMA qualified Finance Manager/Financial Controller who can demonstrate experience of managing a finance function, production of comprehensive month end management accounts, including budgeting and forecasting in either a SME business or subsidiary of a larger group. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate a desire to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships with budget holders and business partnering with all areas of the business. This role would also suit an experienced Senior Management Accountant/Finance Manager that is ready to take that next step into a Financial Controller remit.
