Summary: Medlock Partners are delighted to be exclusively partnering our client, a recently acquired Manufacturing/Engineering business in the Lancashire area as they look to appoint an experienced Financial Controller. Working closely with the Managing Director, reporting directly into the Group Finance Director (based off site) and managing a small finance function, the Financial Controller will take full responsibility for the financial reporting activities for the site, implementing robust financial controls and supporting the wider business and operations with strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for management review
- Process payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Staff management, development and mentoring of accounts receivable and payable functions
- Monitor cash flow and support short- and medium-term forecasting
- Budget preparation and variance analysis
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, HMRC, and advisers
- Year-end accounts preparation and statutory reporting
- Support SMT with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting
- Assist in improving financial systems, controls, and efficiency
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial and company information
Requirements:
- Highly numerate, and CIMA /ACCA/ ACA qualified
- A proven track record of quickly adding value in a fast paced environment.
- Technically strong with a commercial mind-set
- Detailed knowledge of management and statutory accounting.
- Strong Excel skills being competent in the use of VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
- Ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately
- An investigative mind, both on tasks at hand but also to question if there is a better way
- Attention to detail, ensuring accurately presented accounts and information
- Ability to progress a large number of activities concurrently
- Proven ability to work under pressure.
- Experience of developing processes and procedures
- Flexible approach to work, as additional hours may be required
The ideal candidate will be a hands on, experienced Financial Controller who can demonstrate a proven track record of managing a finance function, implementing strong financial controls and working towards strict deadlines in either a SME Manufacturing or Engineering industry. The successful candidate will enjoy full autonomy in their position however, will also benefit from a group structure and be in a unique position that blends independence with valuable resources and support from the wider business.
