Medlock Partners are partnering with a leading law firm based in Leeds City Centre who are looking to hire a legal assistant to join their busy and fast-paced commercial property team. The successful person will have previous experience working within commercial property with the ability to communicate at all levels and have a good understanding of SDLT calculations.

Key responsibilities of the Legal Assistant – Commercial Property:

  • Supporting the commercial property team with general administration
  • Opening and closing of case files
  • Handling client enquiries via telephone, email and post
  • Liaising with clients updating them of sale progression and costs
  • Ensure SDLT obligations and land registry requirements are adhered to
  • Conduct regular desk reviews of live matters, WIP client balances, highlighting any issues
  • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships
  • Work in accordance with SRA regulations

Key requirements for the Legal Assistant – Commercial Property:

  • Must have previous legal assistant experience within commercial property
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and adapt to change
  • Strong systems skills and knowledge including MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels within the companies
  • A solid understanding of SDLT calculations and land registry requirements
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail skills
