Looking to join a supportive team with a multitude of skills in the heart of Hertfordshire? Our 24 hour Hospital in Watford is waiting for you. Your new team is professional and personable just like you and - just like you - they are committed to delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients, going beyond consulting to listen and empathise to our clients and patients.

The practice is well-equipped with:

  • Two consult rooms
  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • Two theatres; one orthopaedic and the other soft tissue
  • Separate suites for diagnostics; digital x-ray, ultrasound and CT
  • Dental facilities
  • Fully equipped endoscopy including rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy and laparoscopy
  • In-house laboratory including the basics as well as coagulation profiles and iSTAT
  • Dedicated isolation ward and staff rest facilities

Many of our vets and nurses are certificate holders or are in the process of gaining them which aids us in running to a high standard, similarly to a referral hospital. We regularly see and currently specialise in internal medicine; diagnosing and treating complex medical cases, diagnostic imaging in cardiology and CT, advanced orthopaedics; including spinal surgeries and hip replacements, small animal soft tissue surgeries and emergency & critical care cases.

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week over four days, plus 1 in 6 full weekends. However, we’re also open to part-time arrangements and can be flexible.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
  • Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare tailored, accurate treatment and care plans for each patient with clear cost estimates.
  • Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.

If relevant:

  • Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  • Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
