We are looking for a Head Nurse to join the team at Medivet Alfreton. You’ll be part of a large, supportive team of ten vets, an amazing head nurse, twelve nurses, and five receptionists, all working together to provide the best care possible. Many of our vets hold or are working towards certificates in areas like dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, emergency & critical care, and ophthalmology. The practice is well-equipped with six consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, dedicated diagnostic suites, dental facilities, digital x-ray, two staff rooms, and more. Our hospital is committed to maintaining high standards and providing excellent care to both clients and patients.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week over five days with 1:8 full weekends. Role Accountabilities:

  • In this role you will:
  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  • Engage, coach and develop your team.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Able to confidently lead a clinical team.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
