Overview of the Practice Manager position at Medivet Dorchester 24 Hour to lead a team of clinical and non-clinical colleagues, delivering excellent client service in a recently refurbished, multi-disciplinary hospital. Located near the Jurassic Coast in Dorchester, the practice supports emergency care overnight and at weekends for multiple Medivet and non-Medivet branches. The role is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract with the potential to extend to a full-time position based on need. The hospital is equipped to provide a wide range of clinical services and patient care, supported by a skilled team including specialists in cardiology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency and critical care.
You will manage the team to ensure exceptional care for clients and patients while maintaining high regulatory, operational, and practice standards, and optimising commercial performance.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the clinical and non-clinical team to deliver high-quality client care and service
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards
- Support Partner/Lead Vet with capacity planning, skills utilisation, and cost management to maximise commercial performance
- Maintain clinic rotas, resource planning, diary management, and clinic workflow
- Support recruitment, induction, and management of colleagues to enable engagement and retention
- Two years of proven UK management experience; able to lead a moderate-sized team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a clinical setting and strong customer service orientation
- Strong focus on commercial performance, compliance, and high-quality service delivery
- Highly organized, proactive, and skilled in systems, data analysis, and resource planning
