Join us at Medivet New Cross as our next Head Registered Veterinary Nurse and take the lead in a thriving, supportive practice at the heart of one of South East London’s most vibrant communities. Medivet New Cross is located in a lively and diverse area with great transport links, a strong neighbourhood feel, and a growing population of committed pet owners. It’s an ideal spot for someone who enjoys city life with a local, community-focused atmosphere. The practice itself is well‑equipped, friendly, and supported by Medivet’s wider network, giving you access to excellent clinical resources, continuous development, and progression opportunities.
This role is based on a four‑day working week with 9.5‑hour shifts, and includes one in six weekends at our Camberwell hospital. You’ll also be required to work two bank holidays and one on‑call week per year, giving you a strong work‑life balance while remaining involved in a varied clinical rota.

Role Accountabilities:

In This Role You Will:
- Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
- Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre‑ and post‑procedure activity.
- Carry out nurse‑led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
- Deliver patient monitoring and care.
- Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
- Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
- Dispense and check medication.
- Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
- Hold briefings to engage and co‑ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.
Your Skills And Experience:
- RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
- Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
- Experience supporting nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
- Experience using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
