At Medivet Alfreton, you’ll be part of a large, supportive team of 14 vets, 18 RVN's, 3 VCA's and 7 receptionists, all working together to provide the best care possible. We are a 24 hour hospital with a dedicated night team. Many of our vets hold or are working towards certificates in cardiology, surgery, internal medicine, and ophthalmology. The practice is well equipped with six consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, dedicated diagnostic suites, dental facilities, digital x‑ray, two staff rooms, and more. Our hospital is committed to maintaining high standards and providing excellent care to both clients and patients.
This is a full‑time opportunity, 40 hours per week including 1 in 6 weekends and Bank Holidays. As a 24 hour hospital you will also be required to join our 2nd on‑call rota to support our dedicated night team. This role consists of 2 days of ward vet responsibilities, the remaining days will be both consulting and operating. Part‑time applications are welcome and we’re open to being flexible where we can.

- Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
- Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
- Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
- Prepare tailored, accurate treatment and care plans for each patient with clear cost estimates.
- Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
- Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
- Pro‑actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.
Your Skills And Experience
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
- Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
- Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
- Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
- Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
- Experience of supporting nurse consults and scheduling 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
- Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
