We have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Manager to join our friendly and experienced team at Medivet Dorchester 24 Hour, ready to lead a team of clinical and non-clinical colleagues to provide excellent client service. As a recently refurbished, multi-disciplinary hospital located just a short drive from the stunning Jurassic Coast, based in the county town of Dorchester, we service many of the surrounding practices for their emergency work both overnight and on weekends. The role will be an initial 6 month Fixed Term Contract, with the option to extend into a full-time role should the Practice require it.
Dorchester 24 Hour has a strong regional presence, providing the out-of-hours care for five Medivet branches and seven non-Medivet practices which gives scope for a wide range of clinical cases. You will be working within a highly skilled and supportive team, which includes certificate holders in cardiology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency and critical care. This creates an excellent environment for development of a caring and committed team to provide all-round care for our patients, while delivering outstanding customer service.
Managing the team, you are responsible for ensuring we deliver exceptional care, always there for our clients, patients and colleagues whilst maintaining the highest levels of compliance with regulatory, operational and practice standards, alongside maximising the commercial performance of our clinic(s). - CT scanner (supporting internal and outpatient referrals)
- Laparoscopic surgery
- Digital x-ray and ultrasound

- Two sterile surgical suites
- Dedicated in-house laboratory
- Hydrotherapy unit (staffed two days per week)
- Peripatetic physiotherapist
- Isolation facilities
- Separate dog and cat wards, with ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status
- 24/7 care supported by an ECC-certified night vet and experienced nursing team
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced manager with general practitioner skills, but with strong team building and customer service skills and a keen interest in ensuring a healthy profitable business. Candidates should have at least 2 years proven UK experience to thrive in this busy, forward-thinking hospital environment while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of the Dorset coast. They should have a broad range of managerial experience including financial reporting and managing a moderate-sized team in a fast-paced environment.
This role is full time, with the option for part-time, working an average of 40 hours per week, the majority of which will be on site but may require infrequent visits to other clinics. If you are passionate about high-quality customer care and want to be part of a dynamic, high-performing team, we would be delighted to hear from you.
